The Open Championship 2022 winner odds and betting tips: Matt Fitzpatrick 18/1 after US Open victory with Rory McIlroy huge favourite
The Open Championship is just a few weeks away and it’s likely this is the next tournament where we will see Tiger Woods return to the course along with the favourite to win Rory McIlroy.
McIlroy was priced as the favourite to win at the Old Course after his impressive final day at The Masters where he eventually finished second, making a miraculous comeback.

The biggest golf event, especially in Europe, will start on July 14 and finish on July 17 at the Old Course in St Andrews, Scotland.
While McIlroy is favourite, Matt Fitzpatrick might be a popular price for this event at 18/1 after scooping the US Open in a thrilling final round on Sunday.
To fend off Scottie Scheffler and Will Zalatoris, Fitzpatrick hit 17 greens in regulation in the final group of the US Open in what was described as “the best final round performance from a ball striking perspective in US Open history.”
That was the Sheffield-born golfer’s first major championship win and has been firmly in the top few in tournaments including 14th in the Masters and a close second in the DP World Tour.
The Masters also saw a great comeback from Tiger Woods, who is now 40/1 to win in Scotland.
Woods was a doubt for the Augusta-based tournament until he made a last-minute decision to take part following his comeback from injury just about coinciding with the big tournament.
And the American golfer made it seem as though he’d never been away with a great display in the opening couple of days in Georgia.
He eventually finished 47th, but considering he only just started playing in big tournaments again this is a great sign for future title shots including the Open.

Best bets for The Open 2022
Justin Thomas at 18/1
Anyone who watched Thomas for the first time at The Players Championship will be astounded to learn this guy only has one Major to his name.
And given his remarkable form this season, it’s also difficult to believe the world number seven is yet to win on the PGA Tour this season.
But as soon as he sorts the putter out, Thomas is ready to explode.
He has certainly improved over a short period of time and even came tied for eighth in the Masters.
He could have finished higher in the standings if it weren’t for some big final round from Zalatoris, McIlroy and Collin Morikawa.
Thomas hasn’t finished outside the top 22 since 2017 at the Masters and remains a solid chance in Scotland on that form.
Rory McIlroy at 9/1
McIlroy has won four Major titles but his last came back in 2014 and if it wasn’t for Scottie Scheffler achieving an impressive -10, the Masters could have been his grand slam.
While much has been said and written about the Northern Irishman at golf’s biggest events since, he is yet to add to his tally.
He finished tied in 46th last year at Royal St. George’s Golf Course but has made steady progress to justify favouritism in the big PGA Tour event.
His recent form has to count toward a decent place finish at least and will be raring to go after an incredible finish in Augusta.
