Cancer hospital to be set up at NISER campus in Bhubaneswar
A state-of-the-art cancer hospital will be set up at National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) campus in Bhubaneswar, informed Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday.
An amount of Rs 650 crore has been approved for the hospital out of which Rs 250 crore will be contributed by Tata Trusts and the remainder Rs 400 crore will be contributed by the Union government.
A three-year target has been set for the completion of the project for which the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will provide an additional 10 acres of land.
Pradhan held a meeting in this regard with Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, senior officials of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Department of Atomic Energy in New Delhi.
As per Pradhan, a skill development centre will also come up at NISER Bhubaneswar campus to cater to the skill requirements of medical professionals at the cancer hospital.
« The cancer care hospital and skill development centre will scale up competencies of health professionals and initiate high-quality research, » said Pradhan.
